Listerine Whitening Strips Review

The Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips is the first tooth whitening product that uses the dissolvable strip technology (Desgined by Pfizer). Listerine claims that the strips dissolve in just a few minutes

What does the Listerine Whitening Strips Package contain?

Each package contains 56 strips. Unlike other whitening strip products, these strips can be used for either the top or bottom teeth. This allows for much more versatility as some users prefer to focus on only the top or bottom teeth.

Opening the packaging and applying the strips is a little tricky, enough so that you will probably destroy a few strips on accident. Many users have complained that the strips often stick to the package and then tear when trying to pull out of the package.

Once the Listerine strips dissolve, does it leave hydrogen peroxide exposed against the inside lip?

Hydrogen Peroxide will irritate tissue. However, Listerine has made it so that when the hydrogen peroxide is activated in the mouth, it breaks down to oxygen and water. When the strip dissolves, the user is only swallowing water and the strip material. In addition, since this is an over-the-counter product, the hydrogen peroxide percentage is very low

Do the Strips Really Dissolve?

Listerine advertises that the strips dissolve completely in about 10 minutes and that teeth brushing is not necessary. However, many users have found the strips to leave a thick, slimy residue on the teeth (like corn starch). Also, pieces of the strips are often found leftover on the teeth.

Bottom line: Do the Listerine White Strips work?

If you can manage to get the strips onto your teeth, the strips will work. While you might not see extreme whitening results, you should be able to achieve a few lighter shades. I think this is a great product from a marketing standpoint. Listerine will get a lot of sales, but the question is, will they get repeat sales?
